on my journey to find pre-loved fabrics with an australian story, to create bags with a story that will then continue with the buyer
i just got back from my scouting trip to germany and hoped to pick up my next bag samples today. but - they are not ready yet :-( hopefully they will be done by the end of this week. disappointing that they are not done and that it always seems to be necessary to follow up on things.in the meanwhile i came across this product from the states on the internet: computer sleeves out of old t-shirts. great idea combined with a good conscience:http://www.hellorewind.com/
another bag company i came across in berlin was milkberlin. individual handmade bags made out of waterproof materials plus other fabrics. cute bags, which reminded me a bit of freitag or other bags made out of tarp. www.milkberlin.comi loved the store presentation! another interesting label i came across is affentor. based in frankfurt this concept brings together young designers and long-term unemployed women. interesting use of fabrics, cool designs and all supporting a good social conscience - great idea! i find using social institutions to create and develop ideas a concept to consider for the future. www.affentor.de
a bag concept that has been around for a few years now - using old gym mats and sports equipment to make bags, wallets and computer sleeves. all handmade with the challenge of material constraints...
german autumn is getting to me. though the music is lovely the video is misty and dark. das gezeichnete ich - du, es und ich.
sometimes you can find inspiration in the most unlikely of all places. in this case a friend spotted these bags while we were walking around in the rain in nürnberg, germany. they were on display at...
browsing through one of my favorite stores in munich i came across these cute little bags. german design made in thailand. i couldn't help myself and the orange one is now mine :) if you are ever in munich stop by hubercraft in haidhausen. always worth a visit! (www.hubercraft.de)
i think trend scouting works so much better if you are in a relaxed and happy mood. one great way to achieve this is to sit in the garden on a sunny warm autumn day with a lovely friend and have a spritz (italian aperitif made from aperol liquor and prosecco/sparkling wine). first impressions of bags in germany: plenty of messenger and satchel bags around, quite a few with wrinkle problems (even the more expensive ones). i was to shy to take pics of people and their bags. challenge to myself: document what i see!
why are the last minutes before going on a trip always super stressful? well, at least always for me .. my whole passenger seat full of material and patterns i dropped off components for 3 different...
