songlines ... bags with a story

on my journey to find pre-loved fabrics with an australian story, to create bags with a story that will then continue with the buyer

    making lil' ones

i spend today making lil' ones - or more precisely one lil' one. one little songlines bag. well, more precisely a songlines pouch (or what would you call it?).

i'm really happy with the final result :-) .. but i know why i normally pay somebody to sew my prototypes! i spend hours trying to get it more or less right and putting the zipper in almost made me scream. the seams are not what they are supposed to be, but well, i guess it is a prototype (again).

i used left over material from the big bag and a reused zipper for the top. i printed the story straight on to the lining material and this time put the story on the inside.

if my sample maker can make this pouch much quicker than i can, i think i will integrated it into my range :-)

ps: a big thank you to the guys from heritage (www.heritagesurfaustralia.com) for allowing me to use their shop for my lil' photo shooting!

  • songlines's Space

crafted from re-used australian materials, songlines' products inspire you to explore their past and create their future ... bags with a story. the start of the journey.

the name 'songlines' was inspired by the dreaming tracks of indigenous australians, which are invisible paths across the land (or, sometimes the sky) which mark the route followed by a localized 'creator-spirit' during the dreaming. The paths of the songlines are recorded in traditional songs, stories, dance, and painting ... I want my bags to pass on similar stories :-)
