songlines ... bags with a story

on my journey to find pre-loved fabrics with an australian story, to create bags with a story that will then continue with the buyer

the good, the bag, the ugly

ok, after having gone through a multitude of nail colors to keep me motivated, i finally started to face my bag disaster this morning! although there is a lot of stuff that went wrong in the making of this prototype, there are also elements that are not that bad .. the padded flap makes it much easier to open the lid, the visible lining and outside stitching on the sides did get a fair few positive comments and the yellow fabric line on the inside is actually quite nice.

but, the stitching overall is crooked, my specification sheet was not followed at all, the straps were sewn on the wrong way and in the wrong way and and and .. i hope mr. invention man had a few sleepless nights handing me back this kind of work result!

next step: review the bag details and then - disassemble! i don't want to waste perfectly good material ;-)

the other problem i have is that the hemp strap in combination with the plastic rings does not work. the hemp is to rough and makes it almost impossible to adjust the strap. well, another thing to work on (again)

Ariane! despite all that it looks nice! You have to find out what needs fixing sometimes. Will we see you at #digicitz christmas party tomorrow night?

crafted from re-used australian materials, songlines' products inspire you to explore their past and create their future ... bags with a story. the start of the journey.

the name 'songlines' was inspired by the dreaming tracks of indigenous australians, which are invisible paths across the land (or, sometimes the sky) which mark the route followed by a localized 'creator-spirit' during the dreaming. The paths of the songlines are recorded in traditional songs, stories, dance, and painting ... I want my bags to pass on similar stories :-)
